Synopsis

INTRODUCTORY NOTE It is with great pleasure that we present this collection of final projects from the Postgraduate Programme in Literary Tourism at the School of Hospitality and Tourism. This work reflects a journey of rigour, dedication, and research, representing the culmination of a course that challenges boundaries. More than an academic repository, this e-book mirrors the richness of an emerging field where literature and tourism merge. Throughout these pages, we explore how narratives shape territories and how travel experiences can be elevated by the power of words. Literary tourism invites us on journeys that are both physical and emotional, transforming settings into destinations and readers into travellers. Whether following in the footsteps of iconic characters, visiting locations that inspired great literary works, or participating in literary events, this field offers a unique way to experience the world. We have gathered here six projects ranging from the impact of iconic works on specific destinations to the creation of innovative itineraries. Organised alphabetically by author, these projects offer a pluralistic vision of the territory, guided by the sensitivity of each mentor. We hope that this publication not only showcases the potential of this sector but also inspires new practices and further research. We would like to thank everyone for their valuable contribution and wish you an inspiring and engaging read. Welcome to this journey.
