I Congresso Infantojuvenil do Município de Gondomar: Livro de Resumos

The Gondomar Municipality Children and Youth Sports Observatory aims to use research and proximity to the community as basic strategies to create more positive sporting experiences. However, several challenges are detected in the current reality. Currently, it is observed that (a) simply carrying out training actions on youth development is insufficient to trigger behavioral changes in the various sports agents and policymakers; (b) the coach is one of the agents responsible for promoting the positive development of young people through sport, but there are others equally important such as parents, managers and the athletes themselves; and that (c) it is necessary to evaluate the impact of training actions in the context of the positive development of young people through sport. In this sense, the Gondomar Municipality Children and Youth Sports Observatory intends to analyze the effectiveness of continuous training actions focused on the positive development of young people through sport in the practices of sports agents, as well as to promote structural and structuring changes in the sports system. To this end, (1) quality indicators for children's and youth sports are being developed, contextualized to the specificities of the municipality of Goiânia; (2) evaluation instruments are being constructed to understand the degree of implementation of these indicators; (3) recommendations are being defined for sports clubs belonging to the municipality; and (4) training actions are being promoted for parents, coaches, and managers, and their impact is being evaluated in terms of changes in the behavior of these agents. It is expected that this top-down approach (i.e., recommendations from a municipality) is expected to optimize the usefulness of continuing education actions and make the positive development of young people through sport effective.
